The Province and MUN is hosting little chats
in the hopes of luring Expat�s and Alumni back -
seeking extra revenues for interest on the bonds,
and to gain from their experiences in the bigger Ponds.

Surveying to find why Pats fled in want attack!
Why-survey costs to save: well-paid work, a lack.
NL jobs are scarce and most in Pol�s embrace,
folks wouldn�t have to leave if opportunity the case.

�- Come home ... Please! For the flighty projects grand,
with management and moose, we�re overmanned.
Few careers to entice a return to Province nice,
but an �Uncle� on committee adds some spice.

Where the treasury�s beset, your kids inherit debt,
and taxes, and the bills, a source of huge regret.
Where potholes bust the tires, produce oft expired,
and high gas and living costs sure to leave you mired. �-

Bored of up-along? Come back to Newfoundland
where family and friends will often lend a hand,
-- (free scenery and fresh air!) �
but lifestyles of the past, are now in theatre cast,
and it�s unlikely that big service spend to last.

On Saturday the Tories elected a new Party leader. That�s nice. But will he lead? There has been no effective Opposition for at least a decade. Nor has leadership come from the Government benches over the same period, either. When the economy is going well, business is booming and employment rates are high, leadership of all kinds � especially political leadership � is a commodity taken for granted. Governments play an important role in this economy, even if far too often it is with a negative effect.  Perhaps it is in the nature of societies to think that things happen for no particular reason.  Truth is, that�s rarely the case.  The inability to lead, to be proactive, to have a nose for crisis, and to be willing to undergo the stress of intervention, is at the heart of the Liberal Government�s latest crisis, too. What's behind the recent announcement by federal Energy Minister Jim Carr promoting   an �energy corridor� for the Atlantic provinces? How does it relate to this province? Are there other issues at play that should worry NL? Is the financial �dead carcass� of NL about to be picked over?* ......................................................... T he public should worry when weak governments run the province. For a decade, successive administrations have given little focus to tough public policy issues, worsening an already difficult fiscal situation.
